The Thirteenth Annual One Day Lectureship
Although South Seminole has hosted some excellent lectureships over the years, this past one may have been the best one ever. Evangelism cannot be emphasized too much, and those who participated were not just speaking theoretically\&md; all of them have had experience either at home, abroad, or both. Steve Vice, for example, spent eleven years in Saipan and has been working with the Forest Park (Atlanta) congregation for twelve years since he has returned. He is now an elder there as well as the preacher. Forest Park was established nearly 60 years ago, and our Brother Guy Dickinson helped that church begin. They host an annual World Evangelism Forum and are responsible for getting several good men into the field. Brother Vice presented two excellent messages.
Brother Dickinson was scheduled to speak but experienced a last-minute health problem and had surgery the day before the lectures. He continues to recover at home. Brother Geoffrey Rowe volunteered to take his place to present a PowerPoint presentation on matters relating to evangelism. No manuscript is in the book, but it and all the other lectures are available for viewing at cocwp.org. Across the top of the home page, one will see several options. Click on Video. The second hour we split into three groups. Two of our ladies spoke. Barbara Summers has helped in private studies for decades, and Aleta Bautista has taught and brought to Christ three women within the past five years. Their material is in the book. Also, Milen Womack conducted a class for teens through young adults on the importance of evangelism for young people. He was Youth Director for two summers here and has been involved in evangelistic efforts on an ongoing basis.
Rounding out the program was Daniel Denham, who spent two years in Taiwan, Evan Diaz, who has conducted several home Bible studies and taught the material he presented on "Evangelizing Tactically," and myself. Available to all who came were sample copies of EXPLORE, a seven-course Bible study that covers the authority of the Scriptures, the plan of salvation, the church, worship, and morality. Also available is a Bible Correspondence Course, Basic Bible Subjects, which has been used in countries overseas and also in our prisons here. The 5.5 Chronological Bible Odyssey was designed as a Bible study curriculum for congregations (but many individuals are using it, also). It aids in keeping evangelistic congregations sound. The book for this year's lectures on Evangelism (71 pages), is available at the current time for $5.00 per book, plus $1.00 postage. Those who also desire last year's book, Current Brotherhood Issues (94 pages), can have both for $10.00 (which includes postage).
