The Fragrance of Christ

(2 Corinthians 2:15-17)

God blessed us with the sense of smell
And made the fragrances as well.
We savor those that suit our taste—
Those pleasant scents we will not waste.

Yet people are aromas, too.
And others always notice you.
So either death or life you'll be.
Your character they all will see.

When they observe your words and deeds,
Will they judge you to meet their needs—
And follow you to heav'n above,
Where all rejoice in God's great love?

Who is sufficient for this goal,
Since we are weak to fill this role?
But through God's strength we will assume
Our work—to be the Lord's perfume.
