Overlap (3)?
This brief article is not about U.S. Politics—but rather that of Canada. The third definition for the word insanity, according to The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, is: "a. Extreme foolishness; total folly. b. Something foolish." So, considering that the Biblical function of government is to protect its citizens, does not the following article describe insanity on the part of Canada's government?

Steve Jordahl of AFN reports that "police in Toronto are telling residents to make it easier for car thieves to get their keys. And the Justin Trudeau government is considering a bill that could put someone away for life if they say the wrong thing online." Home invasions in Toronto increased by 400% in 2023 prompting a police constable to give this advice at a town hall meeting: "To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your key fobs at your front door."
Canada has super strict gun laws to prevent homeowners from having guns, but apparently the same laws do not apply to the criminals. The same constable opined, "A lot of them that they're arresting have guns on them—and they are not toy guns; they're loaded." Think for a moment! Canadian laws do everything possible to keep guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens while encouraging these citizens to make their car keys easily accessible to criminals to hopefully decrease the risk of getting shot.
If you survive this nonsense, you can then face the fact that, if the authorities think "a person may be about to post something hateful and offensive online they can receive a 5-year sentence"! [From the March 24, 2024 RENO RECORD]
Did you notice the phrase, about to post? What does Canada have up there—a sort of Minority Report (a provocative movie from 2002) intelligence? They know what a person is going to write before he says it. So, a person can be arrested for what he thought but has not said—thoughtcrime, as George Orwell styled it in his novel, 1984. And who decides what is hateful and offensive? Would the Bible's condemnation of sin be considered hateful and offensive? Could preachers be imprisoned? This is insanity, eh? Americans ought not to think we are immune to shades of idiocy. We already have a strong contingency of politicians who want to remove guns from law-abiding citizens. And who knows what "hate speech" will include in the future?
