Muslims and Reality

Almost immediately after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, the Bush Administration began cautioning people not to over-react by thinking that all Muslims are terrorists. The Obama Administration has continued that policy and compounded it by refusing to refer to Muslim terrorists as Muslim terrorists. Subsequent attacks have occurred. The villain of the Fort Hood shooting was said to have been struggling with mental problems, and some tried to attribute the attack to "workplace violence." Seriously? Americans do not appreciate being talked down to or lied to, and the truth regarding such matters cannot stay hidden for long.

Now we read in the newspaper that Muslims are trying to improve their image with messages on billboards. On page A10 of the Thanksgiving edition of the Orlando Sentinel (11-26-15), there is a photograph of one of these, which appears above. The reader might wonder what is printed between MUHAMMAD and BELIEVED IN. In small print it says: "Peace be upon him."

However, this billboard is the biggest piece of propaganda since advocates of homosexual marriage tried to pass that issue off as a civil rights matter. Anybody with a sense of history or a cursory knowledge of the news knows that all three of these claims are outright lies. They are not just a little untrue. They are misrepresentations that few will believe. One might as well say that weeds are valuable.

Peace?

The American people know that the World Trade Center was not attacked by unprincipled Presbyterians or rabid Baptists. The Pentagon was not assaulted by Christians; they were Muslims. History records that Islam grew and spread by violence. To try to proclaim it as a religion of peace is to ignore and repudiate 1,400 years of factual data. Muhammad did not gain followers through the working of miracles and lofty teaching, as Christianity spread. He gained converts via the sword, and Islam still rules by fear.

In an early era of the United States, while we were being governed by the Articles of Confederation (1786), two future presidents (Adams and Jefferson) met with Tripoli's ambassador to Great Britain to ask by what right his nation attacked American ships and enslaved American citizens. They also wanted to know why Muslims had so much hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.

Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja answered that Islam was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Quran, that all nations who did not acknowledge their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners. He also said that every Muslim warrior who was slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise. Islam is not now, nor has it ever been, a religion of peace.

Social Justice?

Anyone who desires to live under Sharia law does not understand it. If anything it has a warped view of justice. It is not unusual to read a few times a year of instances in a Muslim country where someone has been unjustly condemned. In fact, on the very same day as cited previously, in the very same newspaper, is a story titled, "Artist Caught in Tangles of Saudi Arabia's Islamic law." Datelined from Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, is the account of a Palestinian artist, Ashraf Fayadh, who was charged initially with blasphemy, spreading atheism, and having illicit relationships with women (A6). What a different culture we live in. No one would be charged with any of these "crimes" in America.

At his first trial, he was convicted and sentenced to: 1) 800 lashes; and 2) four years in prison. He filed an appeal since the sentence seemed awfully harsh; now he has been sentenced to death. How do absurdities such as these reflect social justice? In Muslim countries they actually have religious police. No one is allowed to contradict or challenge the prophet Muhammad in any way. Just writing this article would be grounds for arrest and/or execution in a Muslim country; they do not take kindly to truth.

A mistake that Mr. Fayadh made was filming "one of them" (the article is vague at this point, the assumption is that them refers to one of his judges). At any rate, he filmed him "slapping a man on the face and pinning him against the wall in Abha" (A6). In itself, the filming might not have been so bad, but he put it on YouTube, and it was watched almost 200,000 times. Posting a video in which a man is abused and writing blasphemous poetry are enough to warrant the death penalty in a Muslim nation, yet Muslims want us to believe they champion social justice? What a farce!

Women's Rights?

If a lie can be uproariously hilarious, this is it. Yes. Let's talk about women's rights under Sharia law. If you are a Muslim woman, you have the right to be one of four wives that a man might have (Sura 4:3). You have the right to be taught:

Men are superior to women on account of the qualities with which God hath gifted the one above the other, and on account of the outlay they make from their substance for them (Sura 4:38).

You have the right to be exchanged for another wife (Sura 4:28). You have the right to obey what the prophet wrote about women: they must "refrain their eyes," "display not their ornaments," nor "strike their feet together, so as to discover their hidden ornaments," and they must "throw their veils over their bosoms" (Sura 24:31). Oh, yes, and if you are unfortunate enough to be raped, then you have the right to be put to death as if it were your own fault.

Muhammad

Muhammad most assuredly did not believe in peace, social justice, or rights for women. It is no wonder such a backlash against Muslims occurs. Much of the population knows they are being lied to, and they are not willing to stand for it. Having said that, however, is it the case that all Muslims oppose peace? Not necessarily; many are opposed to the tactics of the terrorists. However, even they should be asked how they explain the beginning of Sura 3:27, which says: "Let not believers take infidels for their friends rather than believers; whoso shall do this hath nothing to hope from God…."

Can they befriend Christians or not? If they can and we are able to be friends, then what does this verse mean? And how do they explain Sura 5:56: "O believers! take not Jews or Christians as friends"? And while we're at it, how about Sura 4:143: "O believers! Take not infidels for friends rather than believers. Would you furnish God with the clear right to punish you?"

Friendship

Ordinarily friendship is based on mutual love and respect. Is it possible to be friends with Muslims? Jesus reached out to everyone, and He died for all. Christians should be loving toward everyone; the question is, however, "Can Muslims be genuinely friendly toward us?" Of course they can, but we ought to ask for an explanation of the above passages. How are we to know if they are deceiving us with protestations of felicity while secretly thinking we are nothing but infidels?

Most Americans have been put into a precarious position with an ever-increasing population of Muslims. It may only be that one in ten is a jihadist and that 90% of them are wonderful people. But 10% of more than a billion or two adherents is mind-boggling. After several attacks in this country, in London, in Paris, and other places, we are growing increasingly suspicious. Even for those who do not want to classify all Muslims as terrorists, it is difficult.

Our national leadership (in both political parties) and billboards professing Islam to be a religion of peace do not help because we know these things are not true. In order to believe a claim, there must be some semblance of truth in its defense, but no truth can be found in the billboards that are being put up across the nation. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism [sic] is a militant and proselytizing faith.
