Muslim Morality

With Muslims making strides in seeking political office, some are worried about the impact of the religion upon the country. These concerns are not unfounded. The reader is free to read on the Internet how the Muslim religion has affected several countries in Europe—especially France, Germany, and Sweden.

Some have been talking lately of Teqiyya, the concept of having permission to lie to infidels. Teqiyya should not be confused with Tequila, which can frequently cause men and women to lie to each other, also.

Muslims are quick to point out that Teqiyya was basically invented in order to protect Muslims. Google says that this king of lying "is seen as a means to safeguard one's life, honor, or property when faced with overwhelming threats or persecution. It enables a Muslim to outwardly deny their faith while maintaining their inner belief." It is the case that some apply the principle more broadly. Consider Surah 3:28 from the Qur'an:

Let not the Believers take for friends or helpers unbelievers rather than believers; if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that you may guard yourself from them.

Consider carefully the message here. First, one should only be friends with Muslims. So, if they are friends with Christians, are they violating their own teachings? Second, being friends with infidels is to cut oneself off from the blessings of Allah. Third, the only exception is self-preservation. But how will each Muslim apply that principle—narrowly or broadly? Incidentally, by way of contrast, Christianity teaches that we should "provide things honest in the sight of all men" (Rom. 12:17; 2 Cor. 8:21). It also teaches to genuinely love others.

Muslim girls are considered eligible for marriage when they reach puberty. They say she must give her consent, however. Really? And how does a girl that age, influenced by her community and her parents make that decision? People in America are arguing against gender transition for youths at that age, but in Iraq, they are trying to justify girls getting married at age nine. This should be called what it is—child molestation. Perverted, older males who "marry" young girls in this fashion should face mandatory prison time—whether she "consents" or not.

"Oh," someone protests, "but surely this has not been practiced previously." The fact is that Muhammad himself was betrothed to a six-year-old and married her at age nine. We're talking about a girl who would be in the fourth grade! Did she consent? Hah! Her name was Ayesha, and she was the daughter of Abu Bakr. Who's he? According to Wikipedia, he was Muhammad's best friend and "served as the first caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate, ruling from 632 until his death in 634." No wonder she "consented."
