Gay Pride
“We’re here. We’re queer. We’re coming for your children.”
This chilling chant was heard on radio stations at the end of “Gay Pride” month. So, your congenial editor looked it up on Google to see what this insane admission was all about. Believe it or not, one individual defends it as a joke. Yes, since homosexuals and drag queens are accused of trying to recruit youths (why else are they in libraries reading stories to young people?), they think it is funny to chant what they are accused of. Wouldn’t that be akin to Hitler’s minions marching through the streets of Germany, chanting: “Here’s the news. We kill Jews. We’re coming for all of you”?
The only problem with this “humor” interpretation is that they don’t sound like they’re kidding. One labors in vain to hear chuckles in the background. But even if it were intended as a joke, it is an insidiously silly thing to do. Are we to suppose that the reported nudity in some of the parades was intended to be humorous, also? Yet it was defended, too. One person said, “It’s no different than inadvertently seeing your dad after he came out of the shower. Really? Don’t most bedrooms have a shower in an attached bathroom? Has anyone ever heard of being wrapped in a towel if he had to make his way down a hallway? And how many dads take a shower in public?
Furthermore, it is time that corporations and companies quit being bullied into participating in “Gay Pride Month.” Even JoAnn Fabrics has gotten on board. In case the words encased in white are illegible, they say, “BE YOU” and “LOVE IS LOVE.” Homosexuals may comfort themselves with short, pithy statements, but here’s one they ought also to consider: “JUDGMENT IS JUDGMENT.” Incidentally, God’s Word will be the last word.
While we’re considering alternative slogans, it might be worth considering that June be renamed GAY SHAME month because that is the view towards homosexuality that God presents. Throughout the Scriptures, God refers to the practice as a “very grave” sin (Gen. 18:20); an “abomination” (Lev. 18:22; 20:13); “unrighteous” (1 Cor. 6:9-10); “vile” and “against nature” (Rom. 1:26).
Christians should not participate in the slightest with anything having to do with this month. In fact, we ought to oppose it when the opportunity presents itself. The proponents of this annual event live in rebellion against God, and “they declare their sin like Sodom” (Isa. 3:9).
