Floridians Against Disney

Can we, as residents of Florida, afford to oppose Disney—from whom the state receives an economic bonanza? A better question would be: "Can we afford not to?" For years, Disney World has either officially or unofficially supported Gay Week, which has just about spread into becoming Gay Month. Now, the leaders of Disney would prefer having Gay Disney World where homosexuality and other perversions prevail all the time. It is time for those who live in Florida, in particular, to take an economic and moral stand against Disney's social agenda. Following are a few events of great concern to families.

Parental Rights in Education

On March 28th of this year (2022), Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law the Parental Rights in Education Bill, which was House Bill #1557. Enemies of the legislation immediately began referring to it as the "Don't Say Gay" Bill, which, of course, was designed to stir up prejudice and animosity against the proposal. Their tactics did not prove to be successful with averages citizens, but it provoked outrage among the Disney leadership.

Before getting to that, however, let's take a brief look at the bill's provisions to see what all the anger is over. The legislation:

prohibits classroom instruction about sexual orientation or gender identity in K-3 classrooms. After 3rd grade, these conversations need to be age-appropriate.

ensures that at the beginning of every school year, parents will be notified about healthcare services offered at the school, with the right to decline any service offered.

allows parents to look first at any questionnaire or health screening of K-3 students, in order to give their permission for the school to administer the questionnaire or health screening to their child.

How unreasonable are these provisions? The legislation does exactly what it claims to do—protect the rights of parents. Who is it who presumes to know better than parents on these issues? Do children between the ages of 5 and 9 need to be informed about sexual orientation and gender identity issues? Really? Are they not to be allowed to live in an age of innocence, sharing adventures with Puff, The Magic Dragon (no, it was never a drug song, as some jaded souls have proposed)? Must children be forced to think about the sexual habits of Winnie the Pooh or if Tigger is taking "uppers" and Eeyore "downers"? Can't children just enjoy being children? Must they be forced to consider whether they should change their genders?

This bill prevents "health" officials from discussing such matters with school children—without their parents' permission. Basically, it says that children belong to their parents—not the government. Who could be opposed to what should be an obvious fact? Secular humanists comprise one faction, as do those who constantly promote homosexuality. This is the reason they have made books available for children for more than three decades; Heather Has Two Mommies was first published in 1989. Daddy's Roommate came out in 1990. The purpose of these books is to get youngsters to believe that homosexuality is normal.

The bill Governor DeSantis signed only forestalls youths from being bombarded by concepts they really don't need to consider at this age. We ought to be grateful that the governor is trying to stop the madness. Most parents do not feel threatened by this legislation; they feel relieved. But Disney leaders are full of wrath.

Disney's Response

A video is available on the Internet that features one of Disney's employees. Anyone can tune in and see Latoya Raveneau, an executive producer at Disney, praise the showrunners of the company's Proud Family reboot for embracing her "not-at-all secret gay agenda." She expresses appreciation for the freedom she has to add queerness (her word) to their programing.

Another notable Disney employee is the President of General Entertainment, Karey Burke, who is determined to increase LGBT representation in Disney programing. She is proud to be the mother of "two queer children"—"one transgender child and one pansexual child." (For the uninitiated, the Greek word pan means "all.") In decades past, a respectable person would have tried everything in her power to prevent people from finding out these sordid secrets, but now she and others like her glory in their shame (Phil. 3:19).

Burke rejoiced that Disney has "many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories," but she acknowledged that they do not "have enough leads and narratives" for gay characters. She vowed online to make "50% of regular and recurring characters across Disney General Entertainment" to come from "underrepresented groups" in the near future.

Other Opposition

Disney is not the only one upset with the legislation Governor DeSantis signed into law. The White House also complained about the legislation.

Biden's Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said in a statement Monday about the Florida bill that prohibits the instruction of sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade classrooms. "And, we will be monitoring this law upon implementation to evaluate whether it violates federal civil rights law. As always, any student who believes they are experiencing discrimination, including harassment, at school or any parent who is concerned that about their child experiencing discrimination can file a complaint with our Office for Civil Rights."

This is nothing more than a threat to the state of Florida to tie it up in lawsuits, thus pitting federal dollars against state revenues. However, this is not the only threat: Nadine Smith, the executive director of Equality Florida, said in a statement:

DeSantis has damaged our state's reputation as a welcoming and inclusive place for all families, he has made us a laughing stock and target of national derision. Worse, he has made schools less safe for children. Equality Florida will defend the rights of all students to have a healthy environment to learn and thrive and for all parents to know their families are included and respected. This law will not stand, and we will work to see it removed either by the courts as unconstitutional or repealed by the legislature.

Needless to say, Hollywood, that bastion and guardian of the nation's morality (not!), had to weigh in at the 94th Academy Awards with one Oscar winner slamming Florida's "Don't Say Gay" Bill. DeSantis countered that Hollywood was the same organization that supported and upheld Harvey Weinstein. For those who have forgotten, Weinstein has been convicted of rape and sexual assault with several more charges pending against him. Oh, sure, the academy expelled him, but many knew of his guilt for years and said or did nothing.

Disney issued a statement saying the bill "should never have passed and should never have been signed into law." The company's CEO came under fire for not speaking out on the measure until after it had passed. But now the statement issued included this promise:

Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that. We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.

One would think that the law that was passed was totally biased against homosexuals instead of being that which simply postpones sensitive topics until an age when children were better equipped to handle the subject. We generally do not teach calculus to primary students who are just learning to count and add. Teachers do not assign essays for them to write.

The Battle

This is a fight for the minds of youngsters. Those who are homosexuals want to foist their values (or lack of them) onto young children. What they want has not been about their rights for decades; it's about forcing society to accept homosexuality and being "in your face" about it as well.

Have we forgotten that only seven years ago the 111 Cakery in Indianapolis was protested because they did not want to produce a homosexual wedding cake? Homosexuals protested. They didn't think a business should have the Constitutional right (or the audacity) to refuse to give a customer what he wanted. Never mind that he could have found another bakery to prepare the cake for him. He demanded to impose his philosophy on others. A picture of a protestor still appears on the Internet. He carries a pink sign that says, "Welcome to our GAY-BORHOOD."

Homosexuals have had an aggressive agenda for years. They are not satisfied with having achieved the legality of same-sex marriage. A Finnish Lutheran "pastor" and a 62-year-old woman are facing criminal charges; they have been "accused of violating the equality and dignity of LGBT people." What did they do? One of them quoted from Romans 1:24-27 in a tweet and also wrote a 23-page booklet titled, Male and Female He Created Them. Do these two things sound criminal to anyone? How long will it be until someone is arrested in this country for refusing to marry a homosexual couple? If certain people had political power, it could happen here. Whether it does or not, no one should think that the in-your-face crowd would not like it to occur.

What About Disney?

Since they have put themselves forth as wanting to have more homosexual characters, what should be done? No, this is not speculation. In the movie, Lightyear, two female characters are in a "relationship," and they kiss. This is what youngsters will be treated to if they choose to see the movie that will be released on June 17th. The kiss had been removed from the movie, but the staff was so incensed by the bill Governor DeSantis signed that they put it back in.

Some may choose to write letters; Disney will probably have a big laugh over them. The only way to have an effect (and this is no guarantee) is to quit spending money on Disney. Do not visit Disney World or the Epcot Center. Do not see their movies in the theater or buy their videos. Do not buy their merchandise. Encourage friends not to travel here to use their resorts or visit their attractions.

Homosexuality appears to have been universal in Sodom because no one (apparently) opposed it. Children were introduced to it at an early age. Let this happen in our society, and we will turn out the same way. Allow schools to teach sex education, gender identification, and perversity as normal, and it will guarantee evil.

No better way exists to make certain that "every imagination of the thoughts of the hearts is only evil continually" (Gen. 6:5) than to subject the minds of our primary students to the LBGTQ agenda. Will someone please found a group such as Floridians Against Disney (FAD)? Your congenial editor will donate the name for free. It is time to make a permanent, irreversible break with Disney's leaders who want to corrupt the minds and hearts of children—instead of simply entertaining them, which was the founder's original purpose.
