"Drag Queen Story Hour"
It really is getting more difficult each day to distinguish "fake news" from the real. And the problem is equally perplexing whether we're discussing politics, religion, or morality. No one would have ever predicted some of the positions that the AD 70 folks have come up with lately, as shown the past few weeks. We don't even want to get into politics because there's a fake story about every other day. But if presented various headlines, we would surely conclude that an article about a drag queen reading books to children was phony; sadly, we would be mistaken.
The Orlando Sentinel proudly published and promoted the event at the top of page B1 on May 24, 2017. What happened at Pulse, a homosexual nightclub, last June 12 has never been forgotten by the newspaper here. A guess might be that over 300 news stories have been published about the event since then. Needless to say, the pro-homosexual fount of information (the Sentinel), which frequently slights opposing views, was eager to splash this newest intrepid idea across its jaded pages.
In honor of the anniversary of the 49 murdered, the Orange County Public Library will host its first "Drag Queen Storytime" (B1). The idea is not original with Orlando (small comfort), but came out of San Francisco (what a shock!). It bubbled up out of the fermentations of a perverted mind—from author Michelle Tea, who won the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction. What a relief that the concept arose from a distinguished author and poet rather than some kook! She promotes "LGBT art and culture in the Castro District" of San Francisco—or was it Gomorrah? They are both so much alike in their "culture."
Miss Tea is so sophisticated. She commented: "Children love characters—princesses, unicorns, magicians, clowns. So what could be more fun than a giant walking princess reading stories?" (B1). Seriously? We could instead imagine this response: "Mommy, why is that princess as tall as daddy and sound like a man? I've never seen a princess like that. I'm scared. Can we go home?" No doubt someone will be on hand to say, "Quit being bigoted. It's perfectly natural for princesses to be 6 feet, four inches tall and weigh 225 pounds. Now shut up and enjoy the story."
Sure, isn't that what every child looks for in a princess? It is a disgrace for Tea and all the others to try to pervert the innocence of children, who are enchanted by things magical; they like make believe—but not men who make believe they are women. Why would anyone even suggest such an atrocious idea? The answer is that they have lost all sense of decorum and decency. They are so obsessed with promoting perversity that they are willing to corrupt children in the process. These individuals deserve a seat very close to Satan in eternity where they can fellowship Jezebel.
Orlando United
This reading of stories by a drag queen on June 12 is part of a larger campaign—Orlando United Day. The subheading is "A Day of Love and Kindness." That certainly sounds harmless enough. After all, don't we need more love and kindness? No! Not for sin. Sin ought to be opposed. A library spokeswoman said: "It's in keeping with the theme of the day: loving kindness and inclusion."
It will undoubtedly surprise many people that God is not a God of inclusion. Allah obviously is not portrayed that way in the Qur'an but neither is the true God, as portrayed in the Scriptures. When Israel conquered Canaan, they were to exclude the Canaanites whose iniquity was now full (Gen. 15:13-16). In putting those people to death, they were executing the wrath of God on the people for their continued wickedness.
Are Christians supposed to bring vengeance on the ungodly today? No, but we are to make known God's attitude toward sin, and it did not change with the changing of the covenants. Anyone who has ever read the New Testament should know that God is not inclusive. Those who refuse to repent of their sins cannot be part of the church. Christians are termed saints, which literally means "holy ones." For that reason they do not partake of the things of the world, such as dancing, drinking, reveling, and activities of that type. Below is what the apostle Paul wrote:
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Cor. 6:9-10).
Do these words sound as though God is inclusive? If the Almighty is not inclusive, then no else should be. Who said that being inclusive was virtuous? Who said it was even desirable? There is a huge assumption made today that being inclusive is the summum bonum of man's existence. But it is not. Even the devil is not inclusive. He does not want the righteous, the pure, the good, or the moral—not unless they are willing to give up those qualities.
Likewise, God does not want heaven sullied by unrighteousness. However, if people genuinely repent of their sins, He will forgive them. But He refuses to accept them while they are practicing homosexuals, adulterers, thieves, drunkards, and so on. They shall be excluded from His presence forever after the Day of Judgment. No Christian is interested in observing a day of inclusion, for what fellowship has the righteous with the unrighteous (2 Cor. 6:14-7:1)?
The Real Character
Miss Sammy is the drag queen that has been chosen as one of the readers for this special occasion. According to the newspaper, he performs "a bawdy show called Twisted Sisters Bingo" at a place called Hamburger Mary's in downtown Orlando (B1). "The library performance, however, will be G-rated." Well, isn't that special?
Does no one see the incongruity of such an arrangement? This would be like hiring Lady Gaga to play the virgin Mary. Why not invite Hugh Hefner to read a story about Peter Rabbit? Does no one realize how disillusioning it is for children to find out that someone they liked (assuming any of them would like this guy) was really a moral reprobate? Or maybe that's the point. Drag queens are all right; you probably have one in your neighborhood. After all, it's not like they're child molesters. Come to think of it, do we really want to exclude even them from this day of celebration? Is there at least one category of people we are not willing to show solidarity with?
The Plot Sickens
Since its inception in 2015, this insidious ploy to corrupt children has spread to Brooklyn and other New York neighborhoods (B1). "The Harlem library plans to kick off its summer reading program with a drag queen story hour next month" (B2). In Brooklyn, a comedian who will be reading says she is trying to "spread light and love throughout the world" (B2). Here's a suggestion: Try starting in Iraq or Saudi Arabia. Try converting all the Muslim children in the world. They and their parents would probably enjoy the "fun colorful performance by a nice person who's leading them through singing and dancing" (B2).
But let's be real. The love and the laughter are simply used to mask the rottenness that lies underneath. Such people are not only disgraceful; they are the true walking dead. Like the widows who lived in wanton pleasure, these degenerates are dead while they are living (1 Tim. 5:6). Get close enough to them, and they probably smell of sulfur.
The only true light in the world is the gospel (2 Cor. 4:4). And the gospel calls for people to turn away from sin. The light continues to shine in darkness (John 1:5), and men still prefer darkness because their deeds are evil (John 3:19-20). Drag queens bring darkness rather than light into the world.
The same is true with love. True love acts in another person's best interest (1 Thess. 5:15). Introducing children to the darkness of homosexuality while they are young and innocent is not love; it is perversity at its worst. True love encourages others—especially children—to walk in the light (1 John 1:7). It admonishes them to love good and hate evil. (Ps. 97:10). One who loves would not cast a stumbling block in another's way (Luke 17:1-2).
So how did this practice get from San Francisco to New York to Orlando? The president of Impulse Group Orlando, Corey Lyons, read about it and decided that surely Orlando was as enlightened as those other huge metropolises. So he proposed it to the library and received a warm reception. "Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs" endorsed the lunacy as well (B2). What a novelty it would be to have a mayor that wanted to protect children. Does that ever happen anymore?
What is Impulse Group Orlando? Ironically, it's an "AIDS and HIV education and prevention organization" (B2). Really? By promoting such events as these, it sounds like they are trying to create future customers for themselves. There is a way to prevent AIDS and HIV, and it works 100% of the time: Don't be promiscuous. Don't become intimate with anyone prior to or outside of marriage. Don't become involved with anyone of the same sex. Is that what Impulse Group Orlando teaches, or do they try to find ways of prevention that will work (presumably) while people are committing fornication?
Impulse wants "to combat the hatred that led to the massacre at Pulse" (B20). Who knows why Omar Mateen did what he did? He blamed America's bombing in Syria and Iraq, but no links were found to ISIS or various radicals. Maybe he was a frustrated homosexual (or bi-sexual, since he was married). Maybe he was just plain nuts. At any rate, what is the plan, one wonders, for changing the world to eliminate this type of individual? Oh, that's right. It will all be made better by drag queens reading stories to children. How can the world not outgrow violence with a plan like that?
Heed the Warning
Some undoubtedly thought that, when homosexual marriage was legalized, homosexuals would finally be happy. Hah! They admitted at the time that there was much more to do. This has seldom been about homosexual "rights." The push has been about homosexual acceptance. Achieving marital status from the Supreme Court, despite both common sense and the Word of God, was never the ultimate goal. Homosexuals will never be satisfied until every man and woman (not to mention children) approve of the sin they are committing. Unfortunately for alcoholics, there's no movement to obtain rights for them. The same is true of philanderers. Maybe they could sneak a P in the LGBT somewhere. Child molesters have NAMBLA, and they have been working on acceptance for more than 20 years.
"Hey, kids, what time is it?" "It's Drag Queen Story Time." America has traveled a long distance since the days of Howdy Doody. What's next—Drag Queen nurses to sing, "We Are the Champions," while rocking babies to sleep in the hospital in a special room with Freddy Mercury and Queen's pictures on all the walls? Whatever the hounds of homosexuality dream up next, it will be perverted, involving as much innocence as it can, and probably aimed at children. Christians should not be afraid to oppose all such ideas as anti-Biblical, anti-Christian, and anti-family.
