KEY VERSES AND PASSAGES
1:33 "And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and
of His kingdom there will be no end."
1:41, 44; 2:12, 16 These verses are crucial for the discussion
on abortion. In 25 years no one has found a
reply to them. Elizabeth's son John, called
a babe (BREPHOS in the Greek), leaped in
her womb when Mary greeted her (1:41).
This occurrence is recorded again in verse 44.
The same Greek word is used of Jesus out of
the womb as was used of John in the womb
in 2:12, 16. The shepherds were told they
would find a babe lying in a manger. The
second reference confirms that they found
him. Modern science uses more specialized
terminology to distinguish between the
unborn (fetus) and the one who has entered
the world. But to God they are the same
whether they are yet in the womb or have
been born.
2:49 "...Did you not know that I must be about My Father's
business?"
2:52 "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in
favor with God and men."
6:46 "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not
do the things which I say?"
10:25-37 "And who is my neighbor?" The Good Samaritan.
10:38-42 Mary and Martha-"...one thing is needed..."
11:1-13 Persistence in Prayer.
12:13-34 Covetousness-the Rich Farmer.
12:48 "...For everyone to whom much is given, from him
much will be required..."
13:3, 5 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will
all likewise perish."
14:25-35 Counting the Cost to Become a Christian.
15 Parables of the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin, and the
Lost (Prodigal) Son.
16:1-13 Parable of the Unjust Steward.
16:19-31 The NON-Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus.
17:11-19 The Ten Lepers.
17:32 "'Remember Lot's wife.'"
18:1-8 Parable of the Unjust Judge (Prayer).
18:9-14 The Pharisee and the Publican.
19:10 "'For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save
that which was lost.'"
21:15 "For I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all
your adversaries will not be able to contradict or
resist" (see also Acts 6:10).
22:70 "Then they all said, 'Are You then the Son of God?'
And He said to them, 'You rightly say that I am.'"
23:34 "Then Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they
do not know what they do.' And they divided His
garments and cast lots."
24:27 "And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He
expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things
concerning Himself."
24:44 "Then He said to them, 'These are the words which
I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all
things must be fulfilled which were written in
the Law of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms
concerning Me.'"
24:45 "And He opened their understanding, that they might
comprehend the Scriptures."
24:46 "Then He said to them, 'Thus it is written, and
thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to
rise from the dead the third day.'"
24:47 "And that repentance and remission of sins should
be preached in His name to all nations, beginning
at Jerusalem."
